Sabbath Worship Experience | Mt. Rushmore of Faith
I had the privilege of seeing Mt. Rushmore during a cross country road trip last week. It was actually on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. It felt surreal to see something in person that I had seen countless times in textbooks and media. It got me thinking, though. Why these four men: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt? Was it only because they were presidents? If so, were they the best four up to that date? Why not include non presidents like Fredrick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, or a Native American hero? I began thinking even more deeply. Who would be on a Mt. Rushmore from the Bible? What would be the criteria? Well, I landed on what I think the criteria “should” be, and I think it will shock you who is and isn’t on my fictitious Bible Mt. Rushmore. Just using all the characters I’ve preached about in my first year here at Vallejo Drive, who do you think should be included, and why? Find out tomorrow!
