Sabbath Worship Experience | Beyond Words
Did you see the Super Blue Moon a few nights ago? Maybe you were busy inside watching the political convention or eating supper. I was late driving home that night on interstate 10 and there was Mr. Moon, bigger than usual, smiling as usual rising on the easter horizon. Had I been home on time, I would have missed it – that amazing display of God’s creative genius.
We live with our eyes on the road, our noses to the grindstone, our heads kept down in order to maintain our balance in this shaky life. We so easily miss God because we live on the surface -- doing the stuff we need to do to survive, to manage, to just keep going. But every day there is evidence of God's presence and power. Every night He reveals something of Himself. The skies speak continuously, without words, of a cosmic Artist who delights in changing hues, patterns, lines, shapes -- a Designer who has engineered planetary orbits and weather systems and hanging suns. Stars pulse across infinite space, galaxies spin in timeless motion. It's all there every morning, every night, proclaiming in silent praise the glory of God. And we miss most of it because our eyes are down low to the ground. Is it any wonder we don't wonder more about our great God?
Astronaut John Glenn experienced the power of the wordless truth in the heavens orbiting high above the earth with a different perspective on the universe we live in: “To look out at this kind of creation and not believe in God is to me impossible “ This week in our worship time we will explore Psalm 19, a hymn about God’s Word that is spoken through the heavens, through the law, and through those who worship Him. I would love for you to join me in the conversation.
